WHAT YOU'LL DO The Cost Accountant will plan, study, and collect data to determine the costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
This individual will also analyze the following:
Changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services to determine effects on cost Actual operating costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard/estimate costs to actual production costs, recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures Audits of costs As a Cost Accountant, this person will prepare estimates of new and proposed product and project costs while providing management with reports that compare factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
Other responsibilities include:
maintaining the Cost Accounting System, assisting in the month-end close of the general ledger, conducting physical inventories and monitoring cycle count programs, reconciling finished goods inventories, monitoring, analyzing, and explaining cost variances, implementing cost standards for materials and labor, preparing cost of goods sold and production reports, reconciling beginning raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished-goods stock, collecting operational data and making analyses reports to forecast expenses and budgets, collecting production data, maintenance, and inventory control data, managing and coordinating annual physical counts and cycle counts in a warehouse, evaluating production costs, gains & losses, and month-end closing data, supporting the development of Operating Department Forecasts and Budgets, collecting and analyzing past years' data to forecast the budget for the ensuing year, identifying solutions and creating resources to control gaps, creating and implementing strategies, best practices, and process improvements, and identifying operational opportunities and implementing best processes and practices.
